Chinese Health and Cultural Discovery Tour May. 2017.

WE FOCUS ON HEALTH AND WELL BEING

*    We learn about amazing Dragon Well tea from a tea doctor on the plantation at Suzhou and taste the difference.

*    We enjoy a farmers meal in the ancient village of Honcun and meet village people whose average age is 91 years old

Day 1 *

Shanghai

Arrive in Shanghai—the biggest and most prosperous city in China. You’ll be met by our guide at the airport, then transfer to dinner, then transfer to hotel. Flowers on Bund

Day 2 *

Shanghai

Breakfast in the hotel, morning visit the Bund—Huangpu riverside, where you can see the classical and the modern feature of Shanghai city. People’s Square, Shanghai Arts Museum-best arts museum in the far- east. After lunch, coach to Hangzhou-—called the Paradise city of China. Hangzhou is famous for landscape of the West Lake and its glories history, the whole city is just like a Garden. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel, then dinner in the local restaurant, after dinner, attend West lake Night Show, this show tells you the history and culture of this Hangzhou City. Transfer to hotel. Day 3 *

Hangzhou

Breakfast in the hotel, then boat cruise on the West lake, visit the Huagang Garden, Su dike. You will also visit the Tea Plantation where you will see the Best Chinese Green Tea—Longjin tea. Chinese green tea is a very good drink for health, the tae doctor there will tell you more about this. After half day tour, a glass of Longjin Tea will make you totally relax. After lunch, coach to Tunxi—a city in Anhui Province at the Yellow Mountain area. Upon arrival, you will visit the Old Villages where you will see the ancient An’hui style buildings in the countryside. After dinner, you will take boat cruise on the Xinanjiang—the mother river of Yellow Mountain, on the boat you will enjoy local opera—Huangmei opera. You will be intoxicated with beautiful scenery and traditional Chinese music. Stay overnight in Tunxi. Hongcun village canal

Day 4 *

Wuyuan - Huangshen

Breakfast in the hotel, coach to Wuyuan—called most attractive Chinese mountain village. Because of the fast development of the economy, it is very difficult to find any natural countryside in China, but Wuyuan is just the place. Every thing here is well preserved to its original and natural condition as 200 years ago. You will see the typical farming fields, small rivers, bridges, hills and stylish farmers’ houses. If you come in late March or early April, then you will find that the lovely rape flower yellowing the whole countryside into an oil painting. Specially, you will visit Hongcun Village—known as the famous longevity village in China. The average life span here is 91 years old. You will meet many people with longevity there and exchange ideas of nourishing of the life with them. Lunch will be special local farmer’s meal. Day 5 *

Yellow Mountain

After breakfast in the hotel, transfer to Yellow Mountain cable station, take cable up to Yellow Mountain, this mountain boasts the best mountain scenery in China. Whole day visit on the mountain which is breath taking and awe inspiring. Then take cable car down and visit a local souvenir shop. On the way back we can visit a health spa in invigorating hot waters directly out of the mountains. After dinner, transfer back to hotel for a well earned rest. Picture3

Day 6 *

Suzhou

 

 

We take the high speed train to Suzhou after breakfast. Upon arrival, meet our guide at the train station. After lunch, visit a traditional Chinese garden – Master of Nets Garden. Before dinner, we will enjoy a traditional Chinese Foot Massage – this is also called reflexology which is very good for your health.

Day 7 *

Suzhou/Wuxi

After breakfast in the hotel, visit the No. 1 silk mill in Suzhou. Suzhou is also called the silk capital of China. In the factory you will see the process of silk spinning and making silk quilt. After lunch take high-speed train to Wuxi – a city called the Pearl beside Tai Lake. Wuxi is a beautiful city with magnificent water and mountain scenery. Upon arrival, transfer to Mashan Island to visit Lingshan Buddhist Park. This park boasts the tallest Buddha statue and the most exquisite Buddhist Palace in the world. The precious art works in the Palace such as wooden carvings, jade pieces and gold decoration will impress you deeply. After dinner, transfer to hotel.

Day 8 *

Wuxi/Beijing

After hotel breakfast, we will visit a Fresh Water Pearl Gallery. This is the most famous product from the Tai Lake. After lunch, transfer to Wuxi airport for the flight to Beijing. Arrive in Beijing, meet our guide and transfer to our hotel. The opportunity for shopping could take place this afternoon. Or visit the Herbal Medicine Centre which is quite an experience. Dinner will be free time. Optional for this evening is to attend the excellent live Kongfu Show (martial arts).  

Day 9 *

Beijing

An opportunity to take part in early morning Tai Ji Boxing today. Back to the hotel for breakfast and off for our visit to the largest square in the world – Tian’anmen Square, and the largest imperial palace in the world – the Forbidden City. During the afternoon we will drive up to the Great Wall for a captivating experience and photo shoot opportunity. On returning to the city, we will visit a Beijing family in the Hutong district. ‘Hutong” is a mongolian word which means ‘small lane between local houses’ We will take a rickshasw ride sightseeing and visit a local family who will demonstrate how to cook “Jiaozi” – a kind of traditional dumpling food. This will be dinner. This evening will be free time enjoying the Houbai bar Street. Kirsten, Gerri and Suz at Great Wall

Day 10 *

Xian

We will fly out to Xian today to visit the amazing Terracotta Warriors. From the airport we embark on a bus ride through the farming coutryside to see this extraordinary display of miles of manmade people forming row upon row guarding their landlord in his death. We will stay overnight in Xian after enjoying the local culture and food. Terracotta Warriors

Day 11 *

Beijing

We fly back to Beijing in time to visit a Jade Factory or a market for a last minute shopping spree. Our visit to China is over. What an amazing country this is. We saw many wonderful sights and did many exciting things. Time to get back home to our ordinaary lives again and dream of our next amazing trip overseas. * Itinerary subject to change
